4 hurt in 3-vehicle head-on crash
SAN DIEGO — Four people were injured in a head-on crash involving three vehicles late Thursday night, the California Highway Patrol said.
A total of seven people were involved in the crash, which was on San Pasqual Valley Road about mid-way between Escondido and Ramona around 11 p.m. Thursday.
A Ford Windstar minivan was driving the wrong-way on San Pasqual Valley Road when it side-swiped a Ford Fusion sedan, the CHP said. The driver of the van then drove about 100 yards before crashing head-on into a silver sedan. The driver of the mini-van ran away after the crash, investigators said.
The man driving the Fusion and his wife were both taken to a hospital, the CHP said. Their daughter, who was also in the car, was taken to the hospital by friends but was not hurt.
The front passenger of the van suffered a broken right leg in the crash. The driver of the silver sedan was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
San Pasqual Valley Road was closed during the investigation, but was back open Friday morning, the CHP said.
