Driver killed in fiery crash on Interstate 805
SAN DIEGO – One person was killed after a fiery crash on the southbound Interstate 805 Tuesday, the California Highway Patrol said.
A grey sedan was stalled in the middle lanes of the freeway near La Jolla Village Drive in University City around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, at which point a white Lexus LS350 rear ended it. The driver of the Lexus was traveling at least 60 miles per hour before the crash and was not hurt.
The collision caused the grey sedan to catch fire, killing the driver, the CHP said.
A Sig-Alert was issued for the area and traffic was backed up for miles. All lanes were back open Wednesday.
