EL CAJON, Calif. -- A water main break in the Fletcher Hills neighborhood left more than five dozen homes without running water Wednesday morning and prompted a street closure.

Helix Water District workers were sent to repair the ruptured 12-inch pipe in the 200 block of North Westwind Drive around 6:40 a.m., according to Monica Zech, public information officer for the city of El Cajon.

Water service was expected to be restored to the 63 area homes left without later Wednesday, Zech said.

Westwind Drive was closed between Berenda Place and Tyrone Street as repairs were underway, she said.
