LA JOLLA, Calif. -- Employees at a popular French restaurant in La Jolla are devastated by the terrorist attacks in Paris that killed 129 people.

Owner of The French Gourmet, Michel Malecot, moved to San Diego in the 1970's but still has family members in France. Friday night, as he fought back tears, he said he hadn't heard any of his family members were hurt, but felt pain for the innocent lives taken.

He said he thought he had seen true terror in Paris after hearing about the Charlie Hebdo shootings in January. He said that mass shooting changed the culture of Paris because suddenly there were armed security personnel in and around the city.

A server at the restaurant on Turquoise Street, Stephane Trawalter, also from France, had mixed emotions about the attack. He said was initially angry, but also sad for the families who lost loved ones in the attacks. Trawalter also expressed concern over his two best friends who are police officers in Paris.
