SAN DIEGO – A teenager carrying a skateboard was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in the El Cerrito neighborhood, police said Saturday.

The incident occurred at 8:19 p.m. Friday in the 3600 block of 54th Street, San Diego Police Department Officer Robert Heims said.

The victim was crossing the street and ended up lying in its No. 2 lane for unknown reasons, Heims said.

Two northbound vehicles saw the victim. The first successfully swerved to avoid him, but the second did not, running him over, Heims said.

The second vehicle did not stop. There was no information about the suspect vehicle, and the victim remained unidentified, Heims said.

Agreed. It happened after 8pm, Friday. Hopefully someone was able to see the fleeing vehicle. AB 8 (The “yellow alerts for hit and runs” can’t start soon enough. I’m fed up with all of these hit and runs.
