SAN DIEGO – A cab driver’s car was stolen on a freeway in the San Diego neighborhood of Tierrasanta, police said Saturday.

The suspect rode in a Yellow Cab at around 10:25 p.m. Friday on the 52 Freeway near the Mast Boulevard offramp, Officer Robert Heims said.

The passenger attempted to choke the driver with what Heims said was some kind of cord. The driver was able to escape, but the suspect stole the cab.

San Diego police later found the empty cab close to the scene.

Heims described the carjacker as a white man in his 20s. He wore a black hat, a black-and-white shirt, and sported a ponytail.
