“I just want other parents to know – to let their kids know to keep an eye out for this car or this gentleman and just be loud and walk away,” said Darla Bourgeois.
The mother of two teenage girls is still shaken up about what happened Thursday morning to her daughters at Broadway and Second Street in El Cajon.
“They were walking separately, a car went by, kind of stopped – looked at them, made a U-turn – started talking to my one daughter,” said Bourgeois.
Bourgeois says her daughters were on their way to school, waiting for a city bus.
“My older one, when he made the initial U-turn to get to my second daughter – she kind of realized something wasn’t right and she took down his license plate really quick,” said Bourgeois.
Bourgeois says the man wanted the girls to get inside his car and kept asking the same question.
“'Let me give you a ride, I can give you a ride to wherever you are going – why don’t you just get into the car.' It was just repetitive – different ways of asking the same question.”
El Cajon police are investigating and nearby schools are on alert.
“Late 40’s, male, thick dark mustache, light skin – possibly Hispanic or Middle Eastern. He had a beany covering his hair but they could tell he still had short dark hair,” said Bourgeois about the suspect.
Her daughters also told police the color of the 4-door car was maroon or dark red with Arizona license plates.
“He is still out there and if he approached both my daughters on the same morning, then there’s a chance he’s approaching other students. It was at 6:50 in the morning,” Bourgeois said.
Police say they have identified the man but are still in the process of looking for him.
