SAN DIEGO -  Lifeguards, police, medics and Coast Guard personnel took part in a mass-rescue exercise centering around a mock airliner crash-landing in the ocean off the coast of Ocean Beach on Wednesday.

More than 300 emergency response personnel participated in the exercise, which began around 9:30 a.m. near the Ocean Beach Municipal Pier and Niagara Avenue.

Crews helped save "victims'' from the water and take them to San Diego lifeguard headquarters, 2581 Quivira Court, for triage prior to transport to a simulated mobile field hospital at Hospitality Point.
