A school employee was walking through the faculty parking lot at the school at about 6 a.m. when she noticed broken glass on the ground. When she went to clean up the glass, she discovered a handgun on the ground, deputies said.
The school turned in the gun to a school resource deputy. The sheriff's department is trying to determine who owns the gun and how it got onto the high school campus.
Investigators said the school has not received any threats and they believe this is an isolated incident.
Anyone with information about the gun was asked to call the Crime Stoppers Student Speaking Out Hotline at 888-580-8477. Witnesses can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
