Bank robbery suspect arrested at trolley station

SAN DIEGO – A man who made his getaway on a bicycle Wednesday after robbing a bank inside a supermarket, was eventually tracked down and arrested, police said.

The robbery was reported just after 11:30 a.m. at the Wells Fargo Bank inside the Vons store in the shopping center at 3550 Murphy Canyon Road. Police did not say how much money the robber took, but witnesses said he rode away on a bicycle.

A suspect was later arrested at the trolley station at 5837 Rancho Mission Road behind Qualcomm Stadium, police said. Robbery detectives took the him back to the bank for witness identification.

It was not immediately clear how officers tracked the suspect to the trolley station.
