Suspected drunken driver plows through front door of home

El Cajon police interview a drunken driving suspect after the man crashed into a home.

EL CAJON, Calif. – Police arrestd a middle-aged man Tuesday morning after he drove his car through a metal fence and smashed in the front door of a home in El Cajon.

The Toyota Corolla crashed into the residence at 792 N 1st Street just after 1 a.m. The front entryway of the home was heavily damaged and a metal gate was knocked off the hinges in the crash.

A woman who lives in the house suffered minor injuries but was expected to be OK. She said she would stay with relatives while the home was being repaired.

The driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
