SAN MARCOS, Calif. — A bank was robbed in San Marcos near the 78 Freeway Saturday and the suspect remains at large.

The robbery took place around 11 a.m at the Pacific Marine Credit Union in the 600 block of West San Marcos Boulevard, according to Lt. Jim Walker of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect waited in line and approached the teller window. He handed the teller a demand note for cash, received money, and walked out of the bank headed north on Grand Avenue, Darrell Foxworth of the FBI said.

Foxworth described the suspect as a 6-foot-tall white man, approximately 40 years old, and weighed 150-160 pounds. He wore a black shirt over a red shirt, had on black aviator sunglasses with gold, and sported a black baseball cap

Deputies searched for him but did not find him.

Foxworth said the FBI believes the man fled the area in a black compact car which was parked in bank’s vicinity.
