SAN DIEGO — A 31-year-old man was found dead under suspicious circumstances Wednesday in a Mission Valley apartment.

Patrol officers and paramedics responding to a reported death in the 5700 block of Friars Road shortly before 10 a.m. found the man’s body in a bedroom of the residence, according to San Diego police.

The man had suffered traumatic injuries of unknown origin to his upper body, Lt. Paul Rorrison said.

Detectives took a woman who lives in the apartment to police headquarters, where she was questioned before being released.

The county Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the body. A cause-of-death ruling was on hold pending autopsy results.

The man’s name was withheld pending family notification.
