Woman dodges police after high-speed chase

Investigators comb through evidence at the end of a high speed pursuit.

SAN DIEGO – Officers were searching for a woman who was passenger in a car involved in a high-speed pursuit Wednesday.

San Diego police were notified of a reckless driver near the Chevron gas station on Main Street in National City around 10 a.m. The car was seen weaving in and out of traffic on northbound Interstate 5.

When officers attempted to pull the car over the driver sped off, merging onto Interstate 15 at speeds of 100 mph, according to SDPD Lt. Tood Bassett.  Officers chased the speeding car until it exited and stopped in the 300 block of 37th Street.

The driver, identified by police as 39-year-old Daniel Acevedo, and female passenger ran away, but the driver was taken into custody after a short distance.

Acevedo was booked on felony evading and resisting arrest.

Officers continued to search for the woman.
