DEL MAR, Calif. -- The second and final community workshop for the One Paseo Project was held Wednesday night at the San Diego Marriott Del Mar.

The Carmel Valley Community Planning Board hosted the workshop, attended by close to 200 community members.

Three redesigns of the project were unveiled to the community, based on input received by the 125 people who attended the first workshop hosted by the project's developer, Kilroy Realty Corp.

After the unveiling, people were encouraged to speak one-on-one with experts with questions or concerns they had about the redesigns, then follow up by writing their opinions down for the developer to consider.

One of the biggest complaints from the community was the amount of traffic the project would bring to Del Mar Heights Road. The redesigns showcase how they plan on reducing traffic from what was previously projected in their initial proposal.

The amount of daily trips in and out of the project would significantly decrease because of Kilroy's decision to downsize the office space by 62 percent, and retail space by more than 50 percent.

The tone of the workshop was collaborative and optimistic, compared to the highly contentious attitudes between the developer and the community in the past.

The community voiced how thrilled they were that Kilroy was getting rid of their original plans and really taking into account, the voice of the people who live in Carmel Valley.

Once the developer chooses a design, the plan is to have it go to the planning board in the fall, then the City Council in January 2016. Kilroy said the best case scenario would be to break ground in spring or summer of next year.
