SAN DIEGO - A woman was recovering Wednesday morning after sustaining serious injuries in a crash on the southbound Interstate 15 in Rancho Peñasquitos, the California Highway Patrol said.

The woman lost control of her Mustang and slammed into the center divider near state Route 56 just after 11 p.m. Tuesday. Firefighters cut the roof off her car in order to rescue her, which took about 30 minutes, according to the CHP.

She was taken to Scripps La Jolla hospital for her injuries. Police were investigating if the woman was involved in another crash a few minutes earlier on I-15.

No one else was hurt.
