SAN DIEGO — A driver in a speeding pickup truck led law officers from near Lindbergh Field to Jamul before escaping this morning.

The truck was spotted around 3:30 a.m. traveling at more than 100 miles per hour along southbound Interstate 5 near Sassafras Street, according to the California Highway Patrol. San Diego police officers attempted to pull the truck over, but it sped off.

CHP officers joined the chase as the truck continued onto eastbound state Route 94. It headed through Lemon Grove and into Jamul before officers lost sight of it, CHP officials said.

A description of the truck or the driver was not immediately available.
