SAN DIEGO — A fisherman on a charter boat about 110 miles southeast of Point Loma Sunday was airlifted to San Diego by the U.S. Coast Guard.

A Coast Guard spokesperson said it sent a helicopter to the boat around 8:30 a.m. Sunday. The crew of the sportfishing boat Searcher called the Coast Guard after the man, 43, showed symptoms of a heart attack.

He was taken to UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest, the Coast Guard spokesperson said. His name and subsequent medical condition are private under federal law.
