SAN DIEGO — It remained unknown Friday what caused a fire in the Mountain View neighborhood, after which a woman’s body was found.

Firefighters sent to the detached garage being used as a living space on Ocean View Boulevard near 35th Street found it in flames about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Capt. Joseph Amador of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department said.

Crews extinguished the fire in about 10 minutes and found the woman’s body during a subsequent search, Amador said. Her name was not immediately available.

Fire officials said the fire caused about $30,000 in damage, and the American Red Cross was summoned to assist the family left displaced by the blaze.
