DEL MAR, Calif. -- Caitlyn Jenner was the talk of the track Wednesday during Opening Day at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club.

Wearing a red and white wrap dress, and a large brimmed hat to match, the 65-year-old  Olympic Gold Medal winner was greeted with cheers and warm wishes. Her appearance overshadowed the magnificent race horses and fabulous hats that normally garner most of the attention on Opening Day.

“I think its so exciting that she’s here," said one woman as she placed a bet. "I had no idea."

“I think she is just so amazing. She did what was in her heart, even with everyone judging her," said Brianna Gable a horse racing fan.

Caitlyn declined interviews. Her bodyguards told reporters she wanted privacy.

Many reporters found it surprising that a celebrity who has spent so many years sharing his and her most intimate moments on reality television was looking for privacy at the Del Mar racetrack on Opening Day.
