Rescuers were alerted to the victims about 7:45 p.m., according to San Diego Fire-Rescue Department lifeguards.
Both were taken to a hospital.
The unconscious patient was airlifted from the scene and the other person was in serious condition and was undergoing CPR, lifeguards said.

This was tragic and preventable. Does anyone else think it might be a good idea to, once again, close off the Clamshell to foot traffic? Perhaps the Cliffs too? Up until a year or so ago, that area was closed to foot traffic. Don’t want to say this was predictable but…just pray they recover. Was sad to see it occur.
