SAN DIEGO – A garage fire caused about $100,000 in damage in North Park early Monday before firefighters were able to extinguish it.

The detached garage at 2711 Felton Street caught fire just before 5 a.m. and spread to nearby vegetation.

Damage was also reported to another nearby structure, but firefighters managed to stop the flames before they spread to the garage owner’s home. About 20 firefighters knocked down the blaze around 5:20 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire Department.

An older model BMW was destroyed in the fire and a second car was also damaged. Two people were home at the time but were not hurt. No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation, but investigators said the fire did not appear to be suspicious.

The fire caused $100,000 in damage to the garage and its contents, investigators said.
