Gunman robs couple in La Mesa

LA MESA, Calif. — A man and woman were robbed at gunpoint in La Mesa Sunday, police said.

The armed man threatened them with a handgun about 12:50 a.m. on a sidewalk at the 4300 block of Rosebud Lane at 12:50 a.m. He fled south down the street with money and cellphones.

La Mesa police helicopters searched for the suspect, but failed to find him.

Police described the suspect as a black man in his mid-20s about 6 feet tall and 155 pounds. He wore black clothing and was clean shaven.
