Sewage spill contaminates Oceanside creek

OCEANSIDE, Calif. – A serious sewage spill that started overnight in Oceansidecontaminated a local creek.

The spill entered Loma Alta Creek at several locations and could be seen coming up through manholes in the street, near Garrison Street and Mesa Drive.

Officials said the sewage was traveling more than two miles and dumping in Buccaneer Park.

The current plan is to divert the water and sewage to a sewage treatment plant.

Oceanside water officials have said so far, the spill poses no risk to the beaches.
