SAN DIEGO – A pregnant woman was recovering in the hospital Tuesday morning after crashing her car into a tree in La Mesa, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The woman was heading south on State Route 125 just before 1 a.m. when she lost control and flipped her car on its side near Fletcher Parkway.

The car skidded into a tree, which prevented it from sliding down a steep embankment, CHP said. The pregnant woman was helped from her car and taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
