Adorable Batman-obsessed family photos criticized for crossing line
MILWAUKEE, Wis. – A Batman-obsessed family is taking heat from public safety officials for their superhero-themed photo-shoot on active train tracks in Milwaukee.
The pictures posted on Facebook last week show a young boy, dressed as Batman’s sidekick Robin, his mother pretending to be tied up to train tracks with Batman there to rescue them. Their photos were part of Father’s Day present.
The photos were “liked” by most Facebook users, but that wasn’t the case with train safety advocates. Sherly Cummings, executive director of Minnesota’s Operation Lifesaver, issued a warning on the photographer’s page.
“The public isn’t aware what they’re doing is illegal and it’s dangerous,” Cummings told the Daily News. “They don’t realize what they’re doing is normalizing the behavior.”
Wisconsin Railroad Regulations and Liabilities statues only allows railroad workers to walk on or along the tracks, the Daily News reported.
Apparently, Cummings reaches out to photographers when she sees pictures taken on the tracks.
According to Daily News, the mother in the photos was unaware taking pictures on the tracks were illegal.
