EL CAJON, Calif. -- Trevor Howell not only plays multiple sports, but also serves as captain for the football, basketball and baseball teams at Christian High School.

"You always want a special kind of captain-type guy," said head coach Michael Mitchell. "Some years you don't have it but when you do have it, it tends to be special years. We're having a great year and really one of those reasons is because of Trevor."

The senior short stop, who leads the team in stolen bases and ranks second in hits and runs, helped the Patriots baseball program clinch their 8th league title since 1985. He credits his high school success to his competitive spirit.

"I think what I've learned is that at everything you can do it's just all about being competitive," said Howell. "If you can work hard with what you have and you can compete everyday in whatever it is you can be successful, so that's what I pretty much learned from playing three sports."

Next year Howell will play in the WAC conference on a D1 scholarship to Utah Valley University. But first, the captain wants to win a CIF Championship.
