OCEANSIDE, Calif. — A third man suspected of taking part in a deadly group assault at a North County park last winter was jailed Thursday.

Acting on a tip, officers took Angelo Doehing, 31, into custody in the lobby of a hotel in the Valencia area of Santa Clarita about 11:45 a.m. in connection with the fatal beating of 24-year-old Mustafa Gordon at Buddy Todd Park in Oceanside.

A man walking his dog found Gordon’s battered body about 5:45 a.m. Feb. 16.

Arrested last month in the case were Chris Augafa, 24, and David Ioane, 25. Two other suspects — William Suesue Epenesa, 45, and 33-year-old Raider Seau, a relative of late San Diego Chargers star linebacker Junior Seau — remain at large.

The reason for the attack remains unclear, police Lt. Leonard Cosby said. Though the suspects are believed to have gang ties, those connections apparently were not a direct motivating factor in the crime, Cosby said.

Gordon was well-liked and had no known gang associations, according to police.

“He got along with everybody,” Cosby said.

The lieutenant said he did not know Raider Seau’s exact familial relationship to Junior Seau, who killed himself in his Oceanside home at age 43 in 2012.
