Fallen tree knocks out power in Carlsbad

CARLSBAD, Calif. — More than 1,100 San Diego Gas & Electric customers in the Carlsbad-La Costa area were without power after separate outages Wednesday night from a fallen tree at Elmwood Street, just South of Highland Drive.

The first outage occurred at 8:46 p.m. and affected 114 customers, according to SDG&E.

The second occurred at 10:02 p.m., affecting 1,022 customers, SDG&E reported.

Power was expected to be restored by 1-1:30 a.m. Friday, according to SDG&E.  Carlsbad Police will have Elmwood Street closed until at least 8am Thursday for clean-up and power line repairs.
