Border Patrol agents discover $312K worth of heroin in back seat of car

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. – San Diego Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a man after finding more than $312,000 of white heroin hidden inside a vehicle Thursday.

At around 3:15 p.m., agents initiated a vehicle stop on a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban north of the San Clemente Border Patrol checkpoint on Interstate 5. A K-9 unit led the agents to the discovery. Agents found 12 plastic wrapped packages in a black bag on the back seat containing 60 pounds of heroin.

The heroin had an estimated value of $312,094.

The male U.S. citizen driver and narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
