CHULA VISTA, Calif. – A man was killed in Chula Vista Wednesday night after being hit by a car while jaywalking, police said.

The man was walking outside a crosswalk on the 600 block of E Street near Woodlawn Avenue when he was hit by a black Audi sedan around 10:20 p.m. The driver of the Audi stopped after the accident and was cooperating with the police investigation.

The man sustained a serious head injury and was unconscious after the accident. Paramedics performed CPR for about ten minutes before taking him to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Jaywalking is frequently sighted as an issue in that area of Chula Vista, according to Chula Vista Police Lt. Eric Thunberg.

The man’s name has not been released. The driver was not suspected of drunken driving.

By chance, this is the same location where the 13 sex offenders were reported living the other day.
