Large gas leak prompts evacuation of Scripps Ranch businesses

SAN DIEGO – Several businesses were evacuated in Scripps Ranch Thursday night after a vehicle backed into a pipe, causing a large diameter gas leak.

The incident occurred around 8:05 p.m. in the 9900 block of Carroll Canyon Road. Several nearby restaurants and business were evacuated.

SDG&E worked into the early morning and had to dig up asphalt to repair the leak. The gas was shut off around 2 a.m.
