SAN DIEGO -- San Diego police homicide detectives were investigating the death of a woman at a Point Loma-area home Thursday morning.
Officers were sent to the 700 block of Rosecrans Street near Bessemer Street in the affluent bayfront La Playa neighborhood shortly after 5 a.m., according to San Diego police Lt. Paul Rorrison.
The death of the woman inside the multi-million dollar home was initially reported as a suicide, but officers discovered trauma on the woman's upper body and believe she may be the victim of a homicide. Rorrison declined to describe the woman's injuries, but he said there was blood at the scene.
When police arrived, a man was in the home. He voluntarily went downtown to police headquarters for questioning, Rorrison said. It was not clear if the man lived at the residence.
Police declined to identify the victim, but Rorrison said she was in her early 50s. A neighbor told FOX 5 that Annika Bohl lived at the house with her husband. San Diego County property records show that the home belongs to Robert M. and Annika E. Bohl. The real estate website Zillow puts the value of the home at more than $5,000,000.
Homicide detectives were waiting for a warrant to search the home.
