Passenger airlifted in San Marcos DUI crash

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – A man was recovering in the hospital Friday morning after the pickup truck he was riding in crashed into a tree, the CHP said.

The driver lost control and slammed into a tree on the 3800 block of Buena Creek Road in San Marcos at 1:45 a.m. Two people were in the truck.

The vehicle was being driven by the man’s friend, who was driving drunk, according to police. He was arrested for DUI and was not hurt in the crash.

The passenger had to be cut from the truck and was airlifted to Palomar hospital with serious injuries.
