OCEANSIDE -- A countywide effort is underway to help save the lives of those struggling with their sexual orientation and gender identity.

County and non-profit officials tell FOX 5 they are mapping out resources to start a hotline tailored to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning community. The initiative comes after two North County teenagers recently took their lives.

“It’s difficult because you’re afraid that’s going to happen again,” said Max Disposti, founder of the LGBTQ Center in North County. “We’re concerned and we want the community to understand that this isn’t just a face. We want them to understand that this is really needed -- the attention is needed.”

The proposed hotline is still in its very beginning stages.

Those behind this initiative hope to have it available before the end of the year.
