SAN DIEGO — The 2015 Poinsettia Bowl college football game in San Diego will be played during the day for the first time, bowl organizers announced Wednesday.

The game will kick off Dec. 23 at 1:30 p.m. at Qualcomm Stadium. It will match Army, if the Black Knights are bowl-eligible, against a team from the Mountain West.

A major post-game fireworks show is also on tap.

“Stadium Spectacular 2015 will set a new standard for fireworks entertainment in the United States,” said Kimberley Layton, president of the San Diego Bowl Game Association. “It doesn’t get any better than exciting college football two days before Christmas followed by a post-game show you will have to see to believe.”

A date and kickoff time has not yet been determined for the Holiday Bowl, according to the association.
