Sheriff’s Department to unveil new patrol chopper

EL CAJON, Calif. – The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department was expected to unveil its new patrol helicopter on Thursday.

The chopper will be revealed at 10 a.m. at the ASTREA Base/Sheriff’s Emergency Services Division in El Cajon.

Sheriff Bill Gore was expected to speak, in addition to Supervisors Bill Horn and Dianne Jacob and ASTREA Chief Pilot, Corporal Kevin Randall.

On the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department website, it cites the Aerial Support to Regional Enforcement Agencies’ mission as providing “enhanced public and officer safety by providing effective law enforcement, search and rescue, fire suppression, and emergency service air support to public safety agencies throughout San Diego County.”
