SAN DIEGO — A shooting near Mountain View Park left a man seriously wounded Thursday afternoon.

The 25-year-old victim was walking his bicycle in the 3800 block of Hemlock Street shortly after 1 p.m. when a westbound blue four-door sedan pulled up and a passenger stepped out and shot him in the back, according to San Diego police.

Following the gunfire, the assailant, who appeared to be in his 20s, got back into the car and was driven out of the area to the north on 38th Street.

Medics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of serious but apparently non-life-threatening wounds, Officer Frank Cali said.

Gang detectives were called in to investigate the shooting.
