Boy dies after car plunges into Los Angeles harbor

LOS ANGELES — One child died and a second was hospitalized Thursday after being pulled from a submerged car that plunged into the water at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro.

Around 6:10 p.m., a call was received about a car in the water near Berth 73, according to Los Angeles Fire Department, KTLA reported.

When crews arrived they found a man and a woman swimming in the water. Rescue divers rescued two children, both boys, who were still trapped inside the vehicle.

One of the boys died at the hospital. The second boy remained hospitalized in grave condition.
