SAN DIEGO – Deputies were on the lookout Thursday for two armed gunmen who robbed a Mexican restaurant on its grand opening.

The masked robbers walked through the back door of the newly opened restaurant Los Rios located at 7977 Broadway in Lemon Grove just after midnight while employees were cleaning up, sheriff’s Sgt. Pat McEvoy said. The men forced the employees to lay down and they emptied the register and stole an employee’s purse.

No shots were fired and no one was hurt during the robbery.

The suspects, described as black men, around 5-feet, 6-inches tall, were last seen running through an alley wearing dark clothes.

Anyone with additional information on the robbery was asked to call the sheriff’s department at 858-565-5200, or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
