Fire crews find body after dousing brush fire

CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Firefighters found the body of a man while dousing a brush fire in a ravine Sunday night.

The fire was reported around 9 p.m. near C Street and Broadway in a ravine that is used as a homeless encampment, police said. It took crews about 15 minutes to put out the fire. They found the body at the bottom of the ravine.

Chula Vista homicide investigators, arson investigators and crime lab personnel were summoned to the scene to determine if the fire and death were an accident or intentional,  police said.
