Bicyclist shot, killed in East Village

SAN DIEGO - Police Sunday sought the public's help in identifying who is responsible for shooting and killing a man  in San Diego's East Village neighborhood.

Officers flagged down at about 4:40 p.m. Saturday by two people in the 1500 block of J Street found 47-year-old Duane Edward Wicker, who was suffering a gunshot wound to his head, Lt. Paul Rorrison of the San Diego Police Department's Homicide Unit said.

Wicker, who was riding a bicycle when he was shot, was taken to UCSD Medical Center in grave condition, where he later died, police said.

Anyone with information about the killing was urged to contact the SDPD Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293. Anonymous tips can be provided by calling Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
