SAN DIEGO - Police arrested a man on suspicion of drunken driving early Thursday after his car flew  off the road and landed in a yard, narrowly missing a home.

Andrew Belleperche, the owner of the home at 2343 Manzana Way in Bay Terraces, said he woke up to a loud crash just after 1 a.m. When he looked outside, he saw a Hyundai sedan sitting in the yard just inches from his home.

Belleperche called police, who arrived and gave the uninjured driver a field sobriety test. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The crash knocked down Belleperche's fence and several large century plants.

This was the second time someone has flown off the road and narrowly missed the home, Belleperche said. The previous crash took out more than 30 feet of fence and some trashcans, he said.

Please think before you get behind the wheel. This could have been someone walking on the sidewalk. Also slow down in residential areas the 20 seconds you save going to or from your house is not worth it. Put down the phone, find a sober driver and take responsibility of a 4000 pound machine.
