SAN MARCOS, Calif.  –  Eleven young people were arrested early Thursday after breaking into a home in San Marcos and causing  about $5,000 in damage, the San Diego Sheriff’s Department said.

Residents reported seeing a group adult and juvenile men and women jumping the fence from the Apostolic Assembly of Faith Church into a neighboring yard around 1 a.m., investigators said. They forced their way into the home at 2727 Casa Linda Way, sheriff’s Sgt. Henry Lebitski said. Once inside, they caused more than $5,000 in damage, he said.

Deputies arrived a few minutes later and with the help of both a sheriff’s helicopter and police dogs, they took 11 people into custody.

Gang detectives were looking into the break-in.
