Motorcyclist gets airlifted after crash with big rig

LAKESIDE, Calif. — A collision between a motorcycle and a big rig Tuesday morning near Lakeside left the rider severely injured and a stretch of state Route 67 shut down for more than an hour.

The motorcyclist was airlifted to Sharp Memorial Hospital following the crash, which occurred shortly before 6:30 a.m. on state Route 67 near Vigilante Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. A second rider also struck the truck, but wasn’t injured.

A SigAlert was in effect for both sides of the highway until around 7:40 a.m.
