SAN DIEGO — San Diego police searched Monday for a motorist who fled the scene after striking and seriously injuring a 53-year-old man in the Midway District.

The hit-and-run in the 4200 block of Pacific Highway was reported at 7:34 p.m. Sunday, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.

The victim was crossing the block when he was struck by a northbound silver BMW 5 series sedan, Delimitros said in a statement. The man suffered a fractured elbow as a result of being struck, he said.

Police described the driver of the BMW as a man in his 20s or 30s who was around 5 feet 8 inches tall. He apparently stopped briefly but did not give any of his personal identifying information to the victim.
