SAN DIEGO - A 45-foot yacht washed up on the beach at Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado.

The rugged, well-built trawler was designed to circumnavigate the globe, but now the ship might be relegated to a watery grave.

San Diego lifeguards said the ship hit the shore in the middle of a flash storm two weeks ago.  The ship was most likely worth over $200,000 but now might be considered a total loss.

If the owner doesn’t claim it soon it will become the property of the federal government.
