SAN DIEGO – A motorcyclist was in critical condition Friday morning after having his leg amputated following a serious accident in Mission Valley, police said.

The motorcyclist was heading south on Texas Street onto the eastbound Interstate-8 freeway when the accident occurred. Another driver apparently didn’t see the motorcyclist, who had to accelerate at the last second to avoid getting hit.

This caused the biker to hit a curb and lose control, police said. He was launched over the on-ramp and landed in a patch of brush beside the road.

He sustained serious injuries during the crash resulting in the loss of one of his legs, according to CHP.

He remains in critical condition Friday morning.

I heard this happen and from the sounds of him flying down Texas he was going way too fast… Motorcyclists need to drive not like speed freaks

Anytime your out on the road you should always remember the slightest wrong move could cost a life. You should always be aware of your situation that is always changing. Do your best at all times to give yourself enough room to avoid making contact with anything or anyone.
I ride and drive and it’s always with the highest awareness.
