SEATTLE — One yard. Seattle Seahawk “12s” fans have been obsessed with just one yard for the entire month of February.
What about their quarterback Russell Wilson? Has he been thinking as obsessively about that single yard as we have?
The New England Patriots defeated the Seahawks 28-24 on Feb. 1 to win Super Bowl XLIX. Wilson shrugged off a slow start to complete 12 of 21 passes for 247 yards, but the interception he threw at the Patriots goal line with 20 seconds to go has been hard for him to swallow.
“One yard. I’d be lying if I said I haven’t been thinking about that one yard for the past 17 days. Everyone wants to know how I feel. Well … it’s complicated,” Wilson wrote in a first person account titled Call Me Crazy.
Wilson said he couldn’t fit his thoughts into a 30-second Instagram video.”So, after the Players’ Tribune roundtable event on Saturday, I had the camera crew stick around so I could talk it out,” wrote Wilson. “Sorry if it’s not perfect. There was no script here. I just wanted to talk directly to the 12s. This is for you.”
