Kitchen fire damages Pacific Beach restaurant

SAN DIEGO – A fire sparked inside a restaurant near the Pacific Beach boardwalk Monday afternoon.

San Diego Fire-Rescue firefighters extinguished a two-alarm fire that started at 3:15 p.m. inside the kitchen at the Pacific Beach Ale House on Grand Avenue, near Mission Boulevard. Flames spread to the attic of the restaurant and black smoke could be seen pouring from the roof.

About 120 people who were inside the restaurant when the fire started were evacuated. No injuries have been reported, fire department dispatcher said.

The cause of the fire under investigation. Traffic was backed up in the area.
